PNW scaledPurdue University Calumet, who is merging with Purdue University North Central and will become Purdue University Northwest later in this academic year, is on the verge of making application for membership in the NCAA Division II for the 2016 cycle. Applications are due by February 1, 2016. Much of the final decision will be based on the hopeful acceptance of membership of the future Purdue Northwest by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by January 2016.

Purdue Calumet is currently a member of the NAIA and the Chicagoland Athletic Conference; but with the growth of their institution and the completion of the Dowling Park Athletic Complex, the institution feels that, moving forward, it is time to align with schools that look and function as they do.

Over the past decade there has been the same type of growth in athletics as in the university as the department now currently sponsors 12 intercollegiate sports and plans to add women’s golf during the next year. The addition of these sports occurred at about the same time as the institution completed the housing village on campus.

"By using their [ASC's] knowledge to get to our short list of candidates that fit what we sought in an athletic director, we easily spent half the amount of time that is normally required in a search like this.   Additionally, they enhanced the pool of by bringing several qualified candidates to the finalist list.  Showing that they know talent, two of the individuals that they sought out, and applied to our position, were hired by and are current NCAA Division II AD’s.  Our search finished with securing a quality hire.  If our institution ever needed to conduct a search for an athletic director, we would without question use the services of ASC."
