Athletics Staffing and Consultants, a leader in collegiate athletic consulting, is proud to announce the addition of Jim Abbott as a senior consultant with the agency.
Abbott has over 30 years of experience working in sports and higher education administration and works currently as the Athletic Director at Oklahoma City University. He will retain his current position while working with ASC.
Abbott is the founder of the Business of Small College Athletics, an annual workshop that provides professional development sessions geared toward NCAA D2, D3, NAIA, and NJCAA athletic administrators. 2018 marks the seventh year of the workshop which has attracted attendees from around the country.
In addition to the workshop, Abbott has provided consulting expertise in the areas of marketing, strategic planning, career development, and revenue generation for a number of years. He will expand his efforts to include departmental reviews, searches, leadership training, feasibility studies, and athletic enrollment/ retention assessments among other areas at ASC. Abbott joins a team of President/CEO Carl McAloose; former 15-year commissioner, Dr. Kurt Patberg; and former Grand Valley State athletic director, Tim Selgo.

Abbott has been the Athletic Director at Oklahoma City University for the past 15 years. During that time, OCU has won an astonishing 44 national team championships and won the Learfield Sports Directors Cup for the 2016-17 academic year. Abbott has twice (2008 and 2017) been selected as the NAIA National Athletic Director of the Year. He has been selected as the NACDA Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year on three separate occasions.
